Simple Ways to Look Modern when Wearing Vintage Style

Vintage Fashion

http://www.christinevintage.blogspot.com/

1. Collect Inspiration

For some people, styling clothing of any era is a natural-born talent. I am not one of those people, so I rely heavily on inspiration from others to figure out what looks right and what does not.

If you are starting to dip your toes into the polyester pool of vintage clothing, it’s really helpful to collect visual inspiration. Pinterest, of course, can be great for this, so I keep a couple of notes on Evernote filled only with pictures of people wearing vintage looks that resonate with me. I can pull those up far more easily on the Evernote app, and it’s incredibly helpful to have that visual reminder.

2. Mix and Match Vintage with Modern.

Although there are a select few people who can pull off an entirely vintage outfit, in order to keep your look chic rather than costume-y, it is important to keep your outfit about 50/50 modern and vintage. An easy way to think about it is: if you’re wearing a vintage top, throw on a pair of skinny jeans or modern pants. Vintage bottoms? Add a current shirt or sweater to balance the look. Dresses can be made more modern with the addition of modern accessories and hair styles.

  • Dressing in vintage doesn’t always have to be big pieces; wear a vintage scarf or piece of jewelry with an entirely modern outfit if you want.
  • When you get more comfortable in vintage, you may want to add more and more of it to your ensembles.

3. Incorporate On-Trend Accessories

Sometimes, particularly when wearing a vintage dress or other head-to-toe vintage look, all you need is one bold accessory to immediately update the look.

Jewelry almost never goes out of style, so you can wear pieces of vintage jewelry without anyone knowing the difference. Look for big statement necklaces, bold bangles, and clip-on earrings for your outfits. Keep in mind that you don’t want your jewelry to be in competition, so only wear a single piece of bold jewelry at a time.

4. Don’t forget about the shoes!

Vintage shoes are one of the oft-overlooked pieces of vintage that can totally transform an outfit. The difficulty with vintage shoes, is finding a pair in good enough condition that they’ll be worth the purchase. Look for classic styles like lace-up boots and oxford flats (men’s or women’s!) to add to any modern outfit in your closet. When in doubt, stick to neutral tones in quality leather for a look that never goes out of style.

Dear, Mr Unknown

Vintage Quotes

http://christinevintage.blogspot.com/
White Crayon =
I finally found out what a white crayon is used for.

Some use it to lighten the colours of other crayons,

some simply leave it aside and not use it at all.

For me, I use it on a white piece of paper. To write

your name a million times. No one can see it and only

I know its there. And maybe..

that's really what a white crayon is used for - Vintage Style

Just lie to my ears, tell me you feel the same,
that's all I've been dying to hear -Vintage Style

You didn't catch my eye right away
I won't deny this. But once you did,
I swear I couldn't look away. -Vintage Style
